If you think the presidential election has generated
some heated debates, you should pop on Twitter and see the battle going on over
the casting of Christian Grey!
Last month Universal Pictures purchased the dramatic
rights to the “50 Shades of Grey” series for a reported 8 million dollars. (And
in a move that was almost as surprising, agreed to let the author retain final
say on casting – smart lady!) So while the decision belongs to Ms. E.L. James,
the fans of her work have some very strong opinions on the matter.
At her Chicago appearance last week, Ms. James was
quick to say it was “far too early” to talk about casting Christian Grey. Her
fans obviously disagree. Not only are they talking about casting preferences, they’re
setting up fan sites to support their cause.
This week I solicited the help of the both the US (@50ShadesSource)
and UK (@FiftyShadesUK) fan sites in asking their followers to tweet me their
votes on the “Casting of Christian Grey”. (As a side note, I don’t recommend
trying this as the influx from exuberant fans kept crashing my computer!) The votes were as impassioned as they were
diverse and often included photos.
All in all, 33 different actor’s names were
mentioned along with two voters who begged for “someone unknown” and about a
dozen who said they’d like to see @ChristianTGrey play the role. (Hmm...wonder
if he has an agent?)
The five actors garnering the most support were:
#5. Alex Pettyfer – 6%
#4. Matt Bomer – 7%
#3. Henry Cavill – 10% @HenryCavill_Fb
#2. William Levy – 12% @WillyLevy4CGrey
#1. Ian Somerhalder – 32% @IanForChristian
It looks like the debate over the perfect Mr. Grey will undoubtedly
rage for months to come and judging by the strong opinions of her fans, Ms.
James certainly has her work cut out for her.
Update:
By popular demand I present the 28 other actors who received votes. Judging by
the variety, it appears almost everyone envisions their “own” Christian Grey.
Josh Kloss (see him with Katy Perry here...he even has the right jeans on!), Bradley Cooper, Jensen Ackles, Ryan
Gosling, Christian Bale, Robert Pattinson, Cillian Murphy, Chase Crawford, Jessie
Pavelka, Alexander Skarsgaard, Wentworth Miller, Michael Fassbender, Adam
Lambert, David Boreanaz, Gabriel Aubry, Chris Pine, Eric Winter, Daniel
Gillies, Colin Egglesfield, Armie Hammer, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Noth, Simon
Baker, Channing Tatum, Cam Gigandet, Joe Mangiello, Paul Walker, Adam Levine, Joseph Morgan, Josh Bowman and Tyler Hoechlin.
UPDATE
7/11/12 : It seems a new candidate has become the talk of
Twitter: Marco Dapper.

I for one think only Ian Somerhalder can play the part. Nuff said!
ReplyDeleteIan Somerhalder-agree! He has the look and I think the chops to pull it off.
DeleteMatt Bomer #1
DeleteDavid Guintoli #2
Jared Leto #3
?
Ian Somerhalder all the way!!! Not only does he have the looks because he is the most sexiest man ever! He also has the smirks and smiles and eyebrow raising thing down and he knows how to play a role like this in his sleep. While reading all 3 books Ian was the only face I saw. He is Christian Grey. Hands down!!
DeleteOMG!!! How Exciting! Campaigning will hopefully pay off! Thank you AnnMarie for taking the time to do this! I am sure it was a lot of work!! I adore you! Yay #TeamIan #IanForChristianGrey @IanForChristian
ReplyDeleteYup me too! I am an @ianforchristian girl!
DeleteIan somerhalder can definitely do the sex-parts, and the pants hanging from his hips. Holy shit ..he is hot.
Delete@ianforchristian... me too
I can only picture Jessie Pavelka as Mr. Grey. Blame the Twitter, but he's perfect. =)
ReplyDeletei absolutely agree with you. i'm blaming it on the Twitter account as well, but that guys just too good-looking to NOT be considered. =D
DeleteJessie is definitely a perfect match for E L's description of Mr. Grey! Ooh la la!
DeleteI was curious who was in the profile photo of the Twitter account.. Thanks Lynn for clearing that up! He's definitely hot.. I think Mr Grey could fit a number of these handsome men. All I have to say is I'm glad it's not up to me.. lol
DeleteTOTALLY AGREE!! Jessie will be in my thoughts as I read the books again and again and again!!!!
DeleteI had never heard of him before, but he is exactly what I pictured while reading the books. YUMMO!!!
DeleteSorry for crashing your computer so often Ann Marie, but we are an exuberant bunch on Twitter!! Hell, who wouldn't be for such a compelling character as Christian Grey?? Yes, I know the votes are the votes, but I must express my opinion and say I just don't see Christian Grey in Ian. None of the qualities that Christian Grey possesses are present in Ian. Male model looks, a Mega Watt Smile, and Eyes capable of expressing any of a hundred different Mercurial moods, and most importantly, a predator like quality that succumbs to vulnerability. All qualities present in my choice, William Levy. Yes, I know my opinion is biased and I have no doubts that my opinion and comment will add more fire to that "heated debate!!!" Just my thoughts ladies. Now Bring it On ;-)
ReplyDeleteUm I didn't read this the first time but IAN WAS A MALE MODEL FIRST!!!!
DeleteOMFG he was a model in Milan for several years.
Mega watt smile? Have you eyes or are you blind? (JK! :))
Eyes capable of expressing predator-like qualities? HE PLAYS A HUMAN PREDATOR! A VAMPIRE!
OK, sorry for shouting. :)
As to vulnerability, Damon is a big suck at heart. He gave back Elena's necklace and compelled her to forget it, he teared all up when he thought Alaric was dying and many other times-he was head over heels in love with Katherine and had his heart broken.
I guess if you don't watch TVD you might not know.
For me it's Ian Somerhalder more so after seeing an interview he did with Ryan Seacrest.
DeleteWhat about Colin Egglesfield? YUMMY!
ReplyDeleteAt last someone with sense and good taste! Just have a look at some of his photos on his website.... v handsome and has the capability of intenseness (if thats a word!) AND the all important mega watt smile!! Also has wonderful come-to-bed-eyes that are essential!!
DeleteI will admit that William Levy is attractive, that is as far as that goes. He is NOT Christian Grey at all to me. Nothing about him says Christian Grey, nothing. To me he does not have that megawatt smile that Ian has. Ian has the smirk, the glare, the body, he is just all around Perfect! His eyes have so many mercurial moods that I just not see in William. Joshua Kloss has more Christian Grey in him than William Levy.
ReplyDeleteCouldn't agree more! Josh Kloss it is!
DeleteYea Josh Kloss is puuuuurrrfect!
DeleteJohn, Holy shit, have you seen him in the vampire diaries? He can do all of those things and he's sexy as Hell! And anyone that wants to say he's not built enough, i'm sure he'd be willing to add some muscle. He's perfect for it!
ReplyDeleteexactly-well said Samantha!
DeleteWell Ladies, I'm back to stir the Hornets Nest, so Stingers Up!! ;-) Quite a heated debate we have going here, and I must say, quite a fun debate it is ;-) Kudos to you Ann Marie for allowing us "Christian-atics" to voice our opinions. I had no idea that my reply would elicit such passionate responses on behalf of Ian, but then again, I guess I kind of did. The one problem I have with some of the responses, though, is some of you have seem to have taken the points I made about William and applied them to Ian. Quite Frankly, that doesn't really offer much credibility to your argument as to why Ian should play Christian, and when those borrowed points are taken away, there's really not much of an argument left on Ian's behalf. To rehash those points at this time would simply be a moot act at this point, so I'll let my original comment stand on its own merit, as it offers plenty of credibility as to why William, and not Ian, is Christian Grey. One point Well Worth mentioning though, is actors draw on life experiences and bring those experiences to their roles. It offers depth and believability. Ian grew up as a privileged kid of an affluent family of the South, never knowing or wanting for anything, until stardom sought him out through modeling and film. William, on the other hand, grew up in the impoverished state of Cuba, a hungry child til the age of 14, when he escaped the communist state and came to the USA to make a life for himself and has never forgotten those days of hunger and what that feels like. Christian was a child of hunger, those days never forgotten, and its such an integral part of who Christian Grey is. So who would bring more to the role when drawing on those experiences??? Seems its a pretty easy answer. Also at hand is the height issue. Ian, five foot, ten inches. William, an even six feet. Christian Grey, an even six feet. The comparisons between William and Christian are far to great, that to make any with Ian pale in comparison. The role of Christian Grey demands a "Master of His Universe" and that make the choice pretty easy. William Levy, a "Master of His Universe" through life experiences, or Ian Somerhalder, a Tween Vampire with no life experience to bring to the role at all. Okay, I guess thats enough of tooting Williams horn for right now, as I'm sure more will come later. But one final thought. To cast Ian as Christian would simply be a reboot of the Twilight series, minus the Vampires and Werewolves. And if you're gonna go that far, then Kristen Stewart might as well be thrown in the mix as well. The roles of Fifty Shades of Grey call for unknown, adult actors. Not Tweeny Boppers ;-)
DeleteJohn, you are too funny...and I'm going to have to start charging Mr. Levy and Mr. Somerhalder for Ad space :)
DeleteFair point, well made as always John ;) William Levy is the perfect Christian Grey. And honestly, Ian's face is just a little too feminine for me.
DeleteIf not them, there's always myself and Miss Stroop ;-)
DeleteYes, you are stirring up the hornets nest.
DeleteIan's many shades in his current role as Damon Salvatore are proof enough that he is very deserving of the role of Christian Grey. His eyes alone are proof enough and the way he can transform himself from smoldering to dominant to tender in a moments time is another reason why his acting is perfect for the role of Christian Grey.
Ian is a philanthropist and even has his own foundation promoting conservation. His upbringing should not be a factor of whether or not he is given an opportunity to portray Christian Grey.
We all have our opinions, but saying that casting him in the role would be a Twilight reboot is absurd.
Ian is Christian Grey.
He had me at hello.
Borrowed points, huh? Interesting.
DeleteIan is doing good in this world, which is what Christian Grey does in the books. Have you heard of his foundation ISFoundation? He was recently named the UN Ambassador of the Environmental Program. I admire him greatly for all he is doing and trying to do for the environment, it's inspiring. So you can't really say he isn't a fit because of his background. Just because Ian didn't have a rough life, which really should not have a factor in who they cast AT ALL-regardless if it is Ian or Ryan Gosling (who I do not want to play Christian) He is, however, the perfect fit for the ever challenging mercurial Christian Grey. William Levy just does not have "IT". IMHO he is NOT Christian Grey. He does not have that smoldering eye contact that Ian has, he does not have that oozing sex appeal to me. Ian was born for this role, he is Christian Grey. Think what you want about him being a "Tweeny Vampire" he is so much more.
With that being said, I have said from the beginning when they said FSoG was going to be a movie, everyone has their vision of who Christian Grey is to them in their mind. Mine will always and forever be Ian.
Oh Ladies, Ladies, Ladies!! Whatever am I ever going to do with you??? ;-) Yes, I'm back, ready to give the nest a stir ;-) William Levy is Not Smoldering Enough??? In my humble opinion, I think y'all may have followed that Big White Rabbit down the rabbit hole into Wonderland where logic just doesn't have any reason. Are we talking about the same William Levy?? To say something like that is to say that the sun doesn't rise in the east, the sky isn't blue, or Ian Somerhalder is Christian Grey!! See how I did that?? ;-) To say that is just plain crazy. The man emits fire from every pore. Thank God our television sets are no longer built in wood cabinets, as I would have to have a fire extinguisher to put the set out every time he appeared on screen. And I'm not even speaking of his acting chops, which, by the way, are through the roof. I've watched countless YouTube videos of his Telenovelas and they are quite phenomenal. The emotion that Mr. Levy conveys is indescribable, and he's doing it in a foreign language which I have no understanding of whatsoever. But through his face, eyes, and body language, I am still able to understand exactly what is being told in the story and that speaks volumes about his acting capabilities. Imagine what the man can do in English. Now don't fret Ladies. When it comes time for me and Ms. James to cast the film, I will definitely put in a word or two for Mr. Somerhalder. I can definitely see him in the role of Ethan. You know. Background dressing, looking pretty and Tweeny, with not much to do. Kind of like his role on TVD. ;-) And a Shout Out to the comment by levyfever. YOU GO GIRL!! Fair Point, well made by yourself ;-) Okay Ladies, got to run. There's an ominous Buzzing rapidly approaching. Time to hide ;-)
DeleteThe accent is a big part of why I don't think he can play Christian, to be honest. I also think that that Ian radiates smoldering more so than William. Ian's eyes and his body says it all. Great idea though-William can play Ethan.
DeleteI will be sure I give you a shoutout when I am with Ian at the premiere for when the world watches him as Christian Grey in Fifty Shades of Grey. ;)
Guess what ladies?? I'm back. Yup, its me. That "William Levy Guy" as I have commonly become known on Twitter. I can only hope I have been given that moniker with fondness. So I was doing a search on IMDB.com for Fifty Shades of Grey and it shows the role of Christian Grey being played by William Levy!! Can I get a Woot Woot up in here??!! Hearts racing yet?? Now before you go flying to IMDB.com and do a frantic search, let me just say PSYCH!! Gotcha Ladies ;-) I couldn't help it. This oppressive heat out here in California is just unbearable and I had to have a little fun with you all ;-) But on a more serious note, its not to late for all of you Ian ladies to repent of your wicked ways and admit that you would love to see William as Christian as much as I would!! I must give Mr. Somerhalder credit though for his acting abilities. The guy would make a Fabulous Mia Grey and I think perhaps a Twitter campaign is highly due at this point ;-) Who wants to be the first on the bandwagon?? ;-) Now I know I'm gonna get all sorts of flack for this, but seriously, thats half the fun of this great debate we have going on over our beloved CTG!! Lord knows I get enough of it on Twitter ;-) And my dear Miss Stroop, William as Ethan?? Pffft!! With the way William is built, the heat that he radiates, and what his body and eyes say, to cast him as anybody other than Christian would be a serious injustice to the books and the character himself. To seriously consider putting a boy (Ian) in the role of a such a dynamic Alpha Male, when you already have such a dynamic man (William) to begin with, just doesn't make much sense. In fact, its plain Cray Cray ;-) Okay, well its almost time for DWTS and I cannot miss watching William/Christian dance his next to last dance. So until next time ladies. Stay Hot, Stay Cool, and as always, all things Fifty Shades of Grey!! Laters, baby ;-)
DeleteWell, Mr. William Levy Guy-yes, that is what I refer to you as on Twitter-would you like a different name? I do believe I said William as Jose or Hyde too on Twitter, as I said today...yes, that was my casting call on that one. And you will NEVER sway me to the William Levy Bandwagon..ever. I won't even wish you luck on that one. No way no how. I can't see him as CTG, just can't he does not radiate heat to me, that is Ian...all Ian..smoldering, smirky, HOT Ian. William is not the look of Christian in my mind at all. It will always be Ian and I am quite passionate about him. :)
DeleteWilliam Levy is a phenomenal actor who could perfectly portray the many "Shades" of Christian Grey...he is relatively unknown to mainstream Hollywood which is perfect!!! In my eyes..he is WITHOUT A DOUBT THE MAN FOR THE ROLE...(check out his videos on YouTube ...irresistible !!)
ReplyDeleteWell Said, my cohort in Crime :-)
DeleteHENRY CAVILL IS CHRISTIAN GREY! POST THE PIC OF HIM IN HIS SUIT...YUM.
ReplyDeleteLOL! So funny! I think Matt Bomer would be a good choice after seeing him on Glee. Not that Christian Grey runs around singing or anything, but just made me think he'd be a good one! =) And when the movie opens, it'll all be us 30/40+ women out there standing in line for the midnight show, whooping it up!
ReplyDeleteI'll get the tickets, you grab the popcorn! :)
DeleteI love Ian but I feel he comes off as too mysterious and you kind of know he has that other side to him, so I feel like that would take away from the surprise. I personally have always envisioned Matt Bomer as the perfect Grey, but I just think it should be someone that could pull off having two completely different sides to him but be able to hide it from the rest of the world when he needs to, and throw himself into the role with everything he's got when he doesn't. He also must be crazy good looking and charming but that's a given. :)
ReplyDeleteIt has to be Ian only he has the complete package, looks, sex appeal and actual acting ability.
ReplyDeleteIan is the only one for Christian, IMNSHO.
ReplyDeleteHere's my case:
1. The eyes -- they're blue, they're grey, they're blue-grey.
2. The Smirk -- he has this really great knowing smirk that is guaranteed to make a girl melt.
3. The Smoulder -- he emotes sex. It's steaming off him.
4. The bod -- yes, he's not as tall as Christian in the books, or as buff, but he's got a lovely physique and besides, they made Gandalf look huge in Lord of the Rings, so i imagine they can make Ian look a few inches taller. Besides, he'd prolly be willing to bulk up for the role if he got it. IOW, no sweat.
5. He looks smoking hot in a suit, or in a pair of worn jeans and bare feet, or in sweats or all wet in a shower, or naked. *fans self*
But most importantly,
6. HE CAN ACT PEOPLE!
Christian Grey is a great character. He's complex and has a past and a present and changes over the course of the books. The actor who plays Christian has to be able to be multidimensional.
Damon in TVD is all that -- he's cocky and self-assured, tender, shattered, don't-give-a-shit, cheeky, snarky, serious, headstrong. Just watch TVD, Damon steals the freakin stage whenever he's in a scene.
The actor who plays Christian has to be able to play a control freak billionaire sadist who falls head over heels for a young innocent and awakens her sexually and changes himself in order to be with her. What a freaking great story and seems a perfect fit for Ian, given a very similar Damon-Elena story in TVD.
*jumps up and down* *cheers* *shakes pom poms*
Exactly! ! ! :-)
Deleteexactly!!!!! Knew you were on my side! xoxo
DeleteI want to add that besides the power-hungry control freak sex god, I think Ian could play that little boy lost as well as anyone. There are many moments in TVD when Damon is hurting and his pain is right there to see. So, no sweat on that part either.
Delete*shakes pompoms*
Eliza for the win!!! Well said my dear. People who didnt vote for Ian clearly do not watch TVD because if they did, they would see what we see in Ian Somerhalder, the perfect Christian Grey!
DeleteAnd just for the fun here are a few more reasons to add to the list:
7. Ian is a philanthropist, just like Mr Grey
8. He cares about the environment and he even started his own foundation (ISF) after the BP Oil Spill that's already done so much to promote conservation, especially in young people.. sounds like another "green" dom I know.
9. I swear once he tweeted about driving an Audi! ;)
exactly!!! couldn't of said it any better!!! Ian Somerhalder = Christian Grey!!
DeleteYES, you are so right. It has to be Ian.
DeleteNot Ian....Matt Bomer before Ian
ReplyDeleteDefinitely Ian! He's the only person I can say that I see when I think of Christian Grey and he is a good actor! I do think that he'll have to put on a little more muscle but I'm sure he wouldn't mind!
ReplyDeleteI am still trying to catch my breath!!! Will have to go slow and study those five more carefully at the moment they all look delicious..... umm Christian
ReplyDeleteI think I'd vote for Alex or Matt. Although there is something about Alex that makes me feel a bit more sympathetic for him.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone care who plays Ana?
I do! Who is your choice? I like Alexis Bledel.
DeleteI do too! I like Ashley Greene or possibly Shenae Grimes...
DeleteLove Ashley Greene. Shenae looks a lot like Ashley. I cant think of better than Ashley or Alexis. What are your thoughts on Alexis?
DeleteOoh, I love Alexis Bledel! Nice choice. :)
DeleteAlexis bledel for sure! Skinny, brown hair, long legs, exudes innocence and her powder blue eyes just stands out from the rest!
DeleteThank you for all you do regarding 50 Shades AnnMarie. It's nice to read a sane blog.. lol I enjoy yours very much!
ReplyDelete""two voters who begged for someone unknown"
ReplyDeleteHehe, one of them was me. I feel quite thrilled to get a mention on your blog :)
For me, the most important thing is for the actor to be able to show the pain that Christian is in, especially at the end of book one and the middle of book two (falling to his knees, anyone?)
All the rest - eyes, body, attitude - is obviously important, but I want to see what Ana sees, the lost little boy.
What an awesome comment! THAT is why we love Christian Grey. Reading that last line you wrote made me want to start the books all over again. XO
DeleteI'd take any of them...I mean, I'd cast any of them for the role.
ReplyDelete;)
I would like either Matt Bomer or Colin Egglesfield!
ReplyDeleteCOLIN! COLIN! COLIN! If saw him u definately would..... my inner goddess faints at the thought!!
DeletePlease, Ian Somerhalder!!!
ReplyDeleteAlex Pettyfer PLEASE!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI AGREE!!! Alex all the way!!
DeleteHENRY CAVILL .
ReplyDeleteHow about Steven Gantt from Showtime's Gigolos? He has the look - that smouldering, sexy and sensual look, the Christian Grey sexy!!
ReplyDeleteI agree Tina,He has the looks, the height, the body, the smouldering sexiness and I believe he can capture the intrigue and mystery of Christian
DeleteI wish i was able to vote, but i just discovered this blog!! and luv it!! espacially since who i've been rooting for got the highest percentage!! i'm all for Ian Someholder to play Christian Grey!!!!! his eyes are soooo sexy and seducing. he looks sexy in whatever he wears, he can play a bad boy, he can ACT his ass off & look good while doing it!! even on VD show, he resembles in someway christian, minus the blood sucking part. welll.... hmmm lol. omgggg i can't stress enough how perfect he is for this role!!! and Ian wants to play the role, he has openly said to shows, radio interviews and twitter!! his acting and demeanor would do this movie justice!! don't make the wrong mistake hollywood and give it to anyone else!! he's known but not well known which is perfect we don't have any pre-concieved notions of what he's abt. to most who don't watch VD or seen him on Lost. he's just another actor. which is prefect!! he's got experience, the look and sexiness we women NEED & CRAVE!!!!
ReplyDeleteDon't get me wrong, I absolutely LOVE Ian Somerhalder!I just don't see him as Christian. I think Matt Bomer would be a good Christian, IF, Christian were older. I think Armie Hammer would be perfect! Tall, sexy, deep voice. Yum! And he can act!!
ReplyDeleteAs for Ana, I haven't quite decided on my opinion yet. Though last night I watched Anne Hathaway in One Day. Then as I was reading I kept picturing her. I just think she is too known. I don't know. All I know is that the first time I (MET) Mr. Grey, I pictured Armie Hammer instantaniously!
Our vote is definitely for Ian Somerhalder. He was born to be Grey.
ReplyDeleteIf they cast Jensen Ackles I would immediately go out and buy the book. So far I haven't read it. I've been waiting for a lot of the hoopla over it to die down. But if they decided to cast Jensen I wouldn't be able to stop myself from getting the books!
ReplyDeleteFO SHO!!!!
DeleteHELL YEAH!!!
DeleteEmily Blunt as @AnaRSteele and Ian Somerhalder @iansomerhalder as @ChristianTGrey = Perfection. #fiftyshades
ReplyDeleteHas anyone thought of Alexander Skatsgard? Maybe I am partial because I am a True Blood fan, but I could see him as the in control "Christian Grey" plus he has the hair and the eyes. I also like Ian, but only after reading from all his twitter fans because I don't watch Vampire Diaries, but I did like him in Lost. I just hope it's not anyone from twilight that would be too predictable. I love Emilla Clarke fro GOT as Ana, she looks young enough and she has the eyes and lips for it. What do you think?
ReplyDeleteJENSEN ACKLES!!!!!!!!!! Nuff said!
ReplyDeleteChris Zylka, anyone seen him posing in that shark movie naked? Talked about a chiseled body. His eyes are grey and hair is perfect, with a hint of color. He has the jawline and the lips too. Plus his voice is raspy and sexy.
ReplyDeleteMatt bomer as Christian grey or Ian, but please no twilight actors, not for Christian not for Ana or kate or anyone! I definitely see mila kunis as Anastasia steele! Amanda Seinfeld as Kate
ReplyDeleteMy choice is the reverse ,but who would care , both as hot as helll
DeleteAlex Pettyfer!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteCOLIN EGGLESFIELD!!!
ReplyDeleteCOLIN EGGLESFIELD,COLIN EGGLESFIELD,COLIN EGGLESFIELD.
Even though Christian Grey is a 27 year old billionaire (Colin is 39 BUT looks more like 30 if you ask me), it is said repetitively how he looks his young age of 27 ONLY when he’s sleeping or playful. So basically even though he is 27 soon to be 28, it’s OK if the actor looks more like 30. He's meant to look alittle older for his age.
Somerhalder doesn’t do anything for me. He looks like a scruffy little brat rather than a studious, beautiful, strong looking MAN Christian Grey truly is.
YESSSS!! Check the lush fotos on his website!! COLIN IS CHRISTIAN GREY!!
DeleteCOLIN EGGLESFIELD!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYES YES YES
Delete*triple salkow*
So as I was laying down last night to venture into Fifty Shades Darker for the third time, I was suddenly stuck by some thoughts that I thought I would pass along to all of you. Not really "Who Should Play Christian Grey" related, as we all know who it should be (YES, WILLIAM LEVY), but seeing as this is the post that got the most responses, I would post it here for the greatest exposure. Never before have I been witness to, nor been a part of, something so crazy and overwhelming that this whole Fifty Shades phenomenon has become. The story is truly out of this world and has touched me on so many different levels, they are just to numerous to list. But one of the things that struck me though in my thoughts, is the community that these books have elicited through their publication. And that community is US ladies!! And you to Gents, if there are any of you out there, other than myself. Whether we have communicated through this blog, followed each other on Twitter, or not followed each other and simply communicated through each others posts. Whether we agree or disagree on this or that. Whether we embrace each others opinions, or whether we'd like to strangle the living daylights out of each other for not agreeing to our own opinion, this Fifty Shades experience has been one of the best experiences ever. And on my part, I can honestly say that this is because of you ladies. You have made me smile, laugh, sent my blood pressure through the roof, and spiked my frustration level on several occasions, but I would never trade any of it for the world. When I venture into any of the books, and delve back into the wonderful love story of Christian and Ana, I take each and every one of you with me and that enriches the story that much more. The only thing that I can think of that would be more fun and enriching than reading the books and communicating with all of you, would be for all of us to get together and go to see the movie when it first comes out. That would be such an awesome experience. Yes, we'd probably end up in a few popcorn fights, but isn't that the kind of things that families do?? And that in a nutshell, is how I have come to think of all of you beautiful ladies. Perhaps one day when Miss Walkers book, Hollywood Ending is published, it'll whip all of us up into another frenzy of opinions, blog posts and voting on this or that. But for now, I would just like to say that I consider it an honor to know each and every one of you, no matter what the capacity, and I look forward to sharing all the things still to come from Fifty Shades of Grey ;-) My hat off to you Miss Walker, for providing this wonderful forum for all of us to communicate. Without you, I might not never have known any of you, and that is a sad thought ;-) And to my wonderful adversary Miss Stroop, Keep Rockin!! You are a Rock Star!!
ReplyDeleteOh my god, John, you are going to make me cry! Thanks so much for your lovely words! Been a pleasure meeting all of you, too, and the first round of popcorn is on me! XO
DeleteNo Crying Miss Walker. Just believe that as humans, one of the greatest gifts we have to give to each other is being nice. And that is what I wished to convey to you, and each and everyone of your followers ;-) I can smell the popcorn already ;-)
DeleteOH MY!! We actually agree on this too! *GASP* I also think that I would never have met any of these wonderful people on Twitter, with the exception of you "Mr William Levy Guy", (just kidding!!! *smiles*) and you AnnMarie are an extrordinary person on so many levels. You have also brought us together and I love you for that!!
DeleteI have told you before, you will sell your book "Hollywood Ending" and I will be the 1st person to purchase it! I can't wait.
Keep up the awesome work!!!
And Mr. William Levy Guy-Christian Grey will be played by Mr.Ian Somerhalder. :)
What wonderful sentiments! Well said! You made me cry.
DeleteAnd let's not forget @ChristianTGrey, I do believe he played a part in bringing us together as well!
DeleteWell put John. I never thought that I would ever communicate with anyone on Twitter until I found all of you! This book has enlighted my life in so many ways and I look forward to reading what each of you have to say each day. Thank you!
DeleteAnd BTW John... Ian is Christian. ;) From day one of reading the book he is who I pictured when Ana described is smirk, tilt of head, and raised eye brow. All of which Ian does very well. What's a 2 inch height difference? Not like they will cast a girl who is 5'10". Just saying. Sorry, I couldn't help myself.
Must you defy me at every turn, Miss Stroop?? ;-)
ReplyDeleteyes..and I will continue to do so...I have said that before too. :)
DeleteHenry Cavill would be amazing in this role..... nuff said! check out Henry Cavill for Christian Grey on facebook!
ReplyDeleteOnly Ian is perfect Christian ! You have to see his eyes. Together with Nina Dobrev as Ana ! They have chemistry and the passion on screen. Also they are cute couple off screen.
ReplyDeleteJust to throw a complete spanner in the works ... When I read the books the only person I can think of as Mr Grey is Goran Visnijc. Those dark smouldering eyes ...
ReplyDeleteComment By: STAR
ReplyDeleteColin Egglesfield - He was excellent on All My Children.
Chris Evans - Surprise no one mention him. He was amazing in Captain America.
Ian Somerhalder - Even talk show star, Wendy Williams see him as Mr. Grey.
If that Vanpire guy Ian who doesn't have the body of Christian Grey plays Christian Grey, well, I'm sorry I am just not interested. I'm not into EMO types at all for this role.
ReplyDeleteWilliam Levy, now that man has the smirk, the BODY, the right amount of unknown intrigue that would be a very interesting cast.
Henry Cavill IS Christian Grey! Although I love Ian & Collin Eggelsfield I think Ian is all bad boy & would be hard to pull off the classy businesslike side of Christian. Collin is yummy but at 39 he might be to old & look more boy next door or jock. Ian is 36 I think also. Henry is 28 has the looks, the eyes, the buff body, looks classy in a suit & could pull off businesslike. See his Dunhill commercial ads on you tube. They could use it for the movie with the suit, helicopter, fancy car & girl. He also played seductive & domineering in Tudors & also can play the seductive, playful, domineering& traumatic side of Christian. He is the whole package. Just my opinion anyway. It would also be fun to see him play Christian knowing it was Twilight fanfiction & he was Stephenie Meyers 1st choice for Edward. This role suits him better. He is more man than teenager.
ReplyDeleteMat Bomer or William levy :)
ReplyDeleteJosh kloss is mouth watering. He has Christian Grey written all over him! Don't forget Mr. Grey is only 27/28 for all of you who say these older men should play the character. So for me it's Josh Kloss or Matt Bomer. End of discussion.
ReplyDeleteI like Matthew Bomer for Christian Grey. I understand that the character is in his 20's but it always says how he act so much older. I don't think some of those choices could pull that off. Matthew Bomer is my pick. fingers crossed!
ReplyDeleteAt first I saw Cillian Murphy....but I realize he might be too old and too small. But now it's totally Ian!
ReplyDeleteMy Perfect Christian Grey would hae to be Jessie Pavelka check this out :) http://www.imdb.com/media/rm3060370944/nm3222923
ReplyDeleteI have to say I always found Ian Somerhalder extremely attractive but never really followed his career or anything like that but as I was reading Fifty I found myself seeing him as Christian. He.is.Christian.Grey. I can't even envision anyone else but him. He has the dark look and chiseled features, the correct age range, the smirk comes naturally and would fit right into the character's persona. The hair falls in such a sexy way...he's just stunning and mesmerizing to women of all ages and races just like Chrisitian. Please cast him.
ReplyDeleteColin Egglesfield is the ultimate Christian Gray. Dominant, sexy, brody, intense eyes Check!
ReplyDeleteThe perfect man for Christian is Paul Walker - everything about him screams Christian. For Ana it would have to be Jessica Alba - she's a beautiful woman with the innocent looks. They both played together in "Into the Blue". They were great together then and would be even greater if paired together again.
ReplyDeletejensen ackles is the perfect christian grey!!!
ReplyDeleteHenry Cavill has it all. Looks, body, eyes & has played every aspect of Christian in Tudors. His Dunhill Black ads SCREAM Fifty & could be a mini 50 shades movie. Not to mention he can play seductive domineering, playful, painful submissive & has that great boyish smile. He also has no problem with nudity or the sex scenes. He has already done that to! I love Ian on vampire Diaries but just can't see him as a classy businessman more like handsome bad boy. Even though he showed his painful side in vd his features pretty much says what he feels & Christian is mysterious. You are suppose to see him as businesslike & charming before seeing the controlling side. I think Ians features already show he is controlling & dominating. Henry can look charming & businesslike & turn into the controlling without u thinking it by looking at him. As for Ana, I think Alexandra Daddario from Percy Jackson is Ana. She has the long brown hair, blue eyes to big for her face, alabaster skin & at 26 she looks 22 & innocent yet mature enough for the more experienced scenes as well as becoming a mother.
ReplyDeleteChristian Bale or Henry Cavill for Christian Grey
ReplyDeleteColin O'Donoghue for Christian
ReplyDeleteI have just read the fantastic books and who I can see playing the lovely Christian Grey is Alexander from True Blood. He is tall those piercing eyes and floppy hair and he looks a sexy rich businessman. The other actors look good but you need someone tall that looks down at Ana and has that power over her. Alexander is the one that does it for me please get him that part!!
ReplyDeleteJensen Ackles is obviously the only one good looking and sexy enough! But he is also an amazing actor. He's the only Christian Grey in my mind reading the books. I doubt I'll watch the movie if it's anyone else.
ReplyDeleteI'll be happy with wither Ian or Matt...when reading the book I envision Christian to have a boyish look like Matt but Ian's smoldering look drives me crazy! As long as its not Ryan gosling or Alexander Skarsgaard (who's too old) and definately definately not Robert Pattinson. Keep twilight people away when it comes to main characters, PLEASE!
ReplyDeleteWilliam Levy has all of the features .....broad shoulders, big hands, amazing eyes and that hair! WOW William Levy...William Levy!!
ReplyDeleteHELLO!!! The ONLY actor who could play Christian Grey is Michael Easton who plays Detective John McBain on General Hospital! Check him out at http://images.search.yahoo.com/search/images?_adv_prop=image&fr=ytff1-yff40&va=detective+john+mcbain
ReplyDeleteTyler Hoechlin can do Christian Grey or Joe Manganiello!
ReplyDeleteMatt Bomer of Ian Somerholder they will be HAWT as Christian Grey. i have ad the trilogy 3 times and still i cant get enough of it. i wana do the 4th tour
ReplyDelete;-)
Just want to throw JENSEN ACKLES name in here. I thought of him immediately as I was reading the first book. He is male beauty personified, and can be dark and broody and myserious without trying, and has often had to play a dark side in Supernatural. He has the exact look except for the eye color. Alex Prettyfur is pretty nice too.... but not sophisticated...enough.
ReplyDeleteHow about Bradley James, he's the right age, has the looks, and body as well as the blue eyes.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was on the first pages of the book, Ryan Gosling keeps flashing as Christian. But as I went on.. I don't know if it's just me or what.. But Cillian Murphy kept appearing as Christian Grey. And until now, I still picture him as Grey. Tho, he might be too short for the role. This is so frustrating. T____T
ReplyDeletematt bomer!!!!! Wow is he hot and a great choice for christian grey... what about david giuntoli.? looks good in a grey suit...
ReplyDeleteMATT BOMER........HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!!!!!
ReplyDeleteIan Somerhalder! He is perfect to play Christian.
ReplyDeleteI THINK I LOVE ALL ANGLES OF JOSH KLOSS!
ReplyDeleteMatt Bomer all the way!!!
ReplyDeletehe is so perfect for the role.....he looks exactly like the description in the book....HOOOOOTTT!!!
MATT BOMER 110%
ReplyDeleteI think I could see Jensen Ackles or perhaps Kevin Zegers but then again Kevin is playing the role of Jace in City of Bones so he might not be available.
ReplyDeleteIan Somerhalder definitly
ReplyDeleteColin Egglesfield, he's the one.
ReplyDeleteMatt Bomer all the way!
ReplyDeleteMatt Bomer! :D
ReplyDeleteIan all the way he is the only guy i see while im reading the books hes great in vd an if u watch it u no hes the best man for the job :) xxxx
ReplyDeleteIan would be absolutely amazing as Christian. I've thought that from the very beginning. I came to know about him after reading the books and was absolutely floored when I saw him, he was Christian personified. And he's a wonderful, expressive, nuanced actor who would do justice at portraying all of Christian's Fifty Shades.
ReplyDeleteDavid Giuntoli IS PERFECT to perform C. Grey!!!!
ReplyDeleteAm I the only person that thought of Chris Hemsworth & Chris evans?
